Vanaja and Lacchi in the Marketplace
Vanaja and Lacchi go shopping in the marketplace. In the background, on the right, is a traditional house endemic to the central Andhra coast. High tiled ceilings and narrow rooms characterize these structures, many of which are about a hundred years old. To the left, is a newer construction, made in concrete. Interestingly, the newer construction has a collapsed facade. The vendor is selling packets of yellow snack food (top), onions in a wooden crate, eggs, sweets and trinkets hanging from a wire. His wares are spread out on a woven mat called a Chaapa.
