Vanaja walks on beach to greet Somayya
Vanaja walks along the beach to greet Somayya on his return from a fishing trip. Fishermen move these boats up, out of the surf line by stringing wooden beams across their front and back. It takes between eight to twelve men to move a boat - the most dangerous time is just when it is being beached. Men have lost their lives, trapped under their boats in crashing seas. Now-a-days, modern fishing trawlers are all but wiping out their livelihood. Visible behind Vanaja are large bundles of nets, and to the lower right corner is a drying net under which the days catch is spread out - safe from birds and other marauders.
